GOLFITO SAILFISH RANCHO - THE LODGE

Nestled at the base of a jungle waterfall, the lodge sits on it's own private beach, where the only noise you hear is the soothing sound of the surf and the occasional cry of a rain forest animal. Only a short distance from the Pacific Ocean, our lodge offers all the amenities you would expect from a first class resort anywhere in the world.

Accommodations for over 25 fishermen, an open bar policy, culinary delights our lodge is the ultimate in privacy and serene peacefulness where spectacular sunsets over the Pacific await you. A cool, refreshing dipping pool, fed by the jungle waterfall welcomes you after a full day of fishing.

The good news for bill-fishermen is that Golfito Lodge is back and in 1998 resumed operations under new ownership. Betsy Bullard (from Virginia) and her husband, Abraham Concepcion are here to welcome you back to this beautiful lodge and country offering southern hospitality, graciousness and high U.S. standards. Both are dedicated saltwater anglers and are 100% committed to providing the best equipment, fishing and service.

Costa Rica is a "must destination" for sport fishermen from all over the world. The Pacific side is known for calm oceans and a wide assortment of stand up fishing. Costa Rica is a neutral country in the politics of world powers. There is no need to worry about speaking Spanish, as many locals speak English fluently. The "Ticos" as local Costa Ricans are known, love Americans and visitors to their beautiful paradise. You will feel comfortable and safe when travelling in this fun loving country.

crgolfitoroom.jpg (4864 bytes)The lodge has 10 rooms that can comfortably sleep 2-3 people.  No air-conditioning in the rooms but a ceiling fan and cool ocean breezes make the a/c a moot point anyway.

The private baths are modern and have hot water 24 hours a day.  The electricity is US voltage and no adapters are needed.   Although you need bottled water for most of Costa Rica the tap water is purified and drinkable.  There is a daily laundry service available to help you keep your packing to a minimum for the plane ride in.

There is not much else to do here in Golfito except fish or explore the jungle, so if you are traveling as a non fishing member of the trip make sure you are aware of the limitations.  The fishing boats are small enough that they are restricted to fishing guests only.  Children should be 12 or over.   (from past experience younger children just do not enjoy it here).  The good news is that this lodge concentrates on the fishing and that is why most of you are reading this website!
