Mexico Day Trips:  We can hook you up with a great fly fishing guide so you can fish  while on vacation in Mexico either out of Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, or Tulum.

Mexico's Ascension Bay: We have lovely fly fishing lodge based trips and a new "Out Island Safari" camping trip that puts you on a bonefish flat 24 hours a day! The Sian Kaan Biosphere Preserve in Mexico is the perfect wilderness for fly fishing fanatics and their not so avid mates!  Bonefish, permit and tarpon abound on the sandy bottom, wadeable flats of Ascension Bay.  Our location directly in Mexico's Ascension Bay means we are much closer to best flats than many other lodges,  with the "Out Island Safari" trips you are actually on the best bonefish flats when you wake up! Take a kayak out after dinner and look for tailing bonefish!  If you love fly fishing and want to catch lots of bonefish and permit this is the place.  This area of Mexico offers some other activities such as snorkeling, birding, kayaking, beachcombing, Mayan ruin touring and just relaxing there is plenty to do for non fishing guests as well.  Join both of us for the finest bone fishing Mexico has to offer.  Experience the flats and beaches of Mexico away from the crowds, the way it should be. Southern Mexico Xcalak: Just north of Belize at the southernmost tip of Mexico's Yucatan is a little village called Xcalak.  It is surrounded by bonefish, permit and tarpon - the ocean flats on one side and the flats of Chetamul Bay on the other.  Chetemul is larger than Ascension Bay and has received very little fishing pressure.  Check out the 2 best places Xaalak has to  offer. Costa de Cocos the premier fishing lodge in the region or Tierra Maya a great little resort that combines local independent guides to create an affordable fishing get away!

Mexico's Isla Holbox: On the northern coast of the Yucatan in the Gulf of Mexico is the Island of Holbox (pronounced Holbosch).  The flats near the island are home to giant migratory tarpon during from May to September with smaller fish available year round.  We have a choice of 2 different lodges on the beach at the edge of town with beautiful accommodations and excellent food.  Long been a quiet getaway for the avid beachcomber and birding enthusiast, Holbox is also a fly fishing tarpon addicts Mecca. Tarpon have always been here but few fishermen ever have fished these waters.  This lack of pressure makes it much more likely that a huge tarpon will eat your fly and rocket 6 feet in the air while your jaw hangs open  in awe.  Mexico fly

Mexico's Rio Lagartos: In the northwestern corner of the Yucatan ( further west than Holbox) is the premier baby tarpon destination in the world.  Only a handful of enthusiasts get to fish these waters each year.  Fish from 2-70 pounds are present year round with some big tarpon invading the area in late spring and summer.

Mexico's Isla Blanca: North of Cancun but south of Isla Holbox is the Chacmuchuk Lagoon. On the East side of the lagoon is a strip of land called Isla Blanca. Not really an island but it is pretty close. A decent road road connects the area to to Cancun. It is the only destination that will be suitable for day trips out of Cancun. We can provide accommodations at Isla Blanca Lodge or in Cancun. If you already have accommodations in Cancun still call to see if we can arrange a day trip for you. If you are staying in Cancun your guide will pick you up before dawn and drive about an hour north to the boat launch. From there it is about another 30 minutes to the prime areas of the Lagoon. If you are staying at Isla Blanca then you will eliminate all travel time! The fishing is year round for Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Barracuda, Snook and many other fish. This is grand slam country. The flats are not as wadeable as the ones in Ascension Bay so most of the fishing is from the boat.   fly fi
