Trip Description

Just north of Cancun is a fishery that has been hiding in the shadow of Ascension Bay. This is all the more amazing in that it is less than 1 hour from Cancun. We can arrange a day trip from your hotel in Cancun or you can stay in at one of our picks in Cancun or better yet right next to the fishing at the Lodge at Isla Blanca .

If you choose the day trip option we can pick you up anywhere from Playa del Carmen to Cancun, drive you to the boat launch and keep you fishing all day. If you stay with us you will enjoy a relaxed vacation with lots for the rest of your party to enjoy.

Some members of your family may not like the rustic nature of Ascension Bay or the slim choices of other things to do on Holbox so this may be the perfect solution. Either smack in the middle of Cancun's resort zone or on a beautiful private beach 1 hour north of Cancun. Either way you have easy access to all the tours and amenities that are available by being near Cancun. Mayan ruins, diving, snorkeling, birding, sailing, dancing. It will surprise all of your family.

The day trips are an exceptional way to get a day or two of fishing while you are on a family vacation in Cancun. We will pick you up at your hotel early in the morning with everything we need for the day. Lunch is included with all trips. The drive north is usually only 40 minutes as we beat the Cancun traffic since we usually leave at 6 or 7 am. Basically we are driving north until the road ends. We then hop in the boat for the final 30 minutes t get to the flats. You will get about 7 hours on the water with a day trip.

The lodge trips will pick you up at the airport and take care of everything from that point on. Meals are included with most packages. Please join us in Fly Fishing Heaven!

There is a great mix of fish in this area with Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Snook being the prime targets. A super grand slam is tough in one day but fairly easy if you spend a week. ( the permit is why it is not guaranteed!) The terrain is varied as well. The flats range from mud to turtle grass to coral sand, most are soft bottom making wading impossible. There are a few spots that wading is perfect. There are lots of mangrove channels and creeks that hold tarpon and snook year round. The biggest tarpon are found in the late spring and summer.

Guest Comments:

"THANKS FOR A MOST PLEASANT DAY OF FISHING. I WAS VERY IMPRESED BY HAVING SEVERAL CHANCES AT ROLLING TARPON. ONE TAKE. MOST IMPRESIVE FOR ME WAS THE NUMEROUS SCHOOLS OF SNOOK. HAD MANY CHANCES, HOOKED 3, LANDED 2, LOST BIG ONE.
A MOST PLEASANT DAY FISHING."
